Hebbel am Ufer is now a sprawling set of performance and arts venues. It is state-funded so they take themselves seriously – don’t ask to drop your flyers in the bar and no graffiti in the toilets.
They do mount very good contemporary dance. If you don’t know, it is very hard to do: lighting, music and the stage need to be very well-managed and they manage it.
It reminds me of the London Institute of Contemporary Dance, but with a better bar.
